The Masters Par 3 Contest

As special as The Masters is, the traditional Par 3 Contest may be as memorable for the players’ families. It’s a day when players have their kids caddie for them and the kids wear the traditional Augusta National Golf Club caddie uniforms. The Van Pelt kids (and their dad) had been looking forward to the 2012 Par 3 Contest for an entire year and couldn’t wait to walk the course together. The day of the Par 3, we took some pictures outside the caddie building at Augusta National then headed to the first tee. As soon as we got there though we noticed dark clouds moving in and the sirens blew to halt play. After waiting out the rain clouds for a few minutes, the Par 3 Contest was canceled and the kids never got the chance to walk the course with their dad. It was heartbreaking and there were many tears shed. This past Wednesday though the kids finally had their chance to caddie on a beautiful sunny day in Augusta, Georgia. It was a day that they no doubt will remember forever. Here are some shots taken the day of the Par 3 Contest last year.
